I thank God for your movement and method. My first Cursillo as a weekender was in the Empire region, CA/NV in the 90s. I now have served on six teams and find that I grow each time while preparing and serving the weekenders. Bless you!!! |

Dear Cursillos:
My name is Rev. Norman Ramsey. I take this opportunity to give you an update on “The Colors of Grace”: a 15-song project reflecting the spirit and content of an Emmaus weekend. I would love to send you copies of the 2-song demo I have prepared. The first song is the title song and reflects the Body of Christ Talk on the weekend. The second song, “A Simple One” corresponds to the Priorities Talk. Please e-mail me at reverendnorm@aol.com and let me know to whom I may send them..
Let me introduce what I’m trying to do. Over 800,000 people have attended a “Walk to Emmaus” or “Chrysalis” 3-Day event. Many more than that have participated in Cursillos. Most of those participants had a great experience during those three days. Many of those people though, made no formal connection to the greater communities of which they were a part. Their notes set aside, returning to their former associations, the impact of how God spoke to them and encountered them diminished. Currently, persons are encouraged to become a part of a small group following their weekend experience. Often this is an "addition" to an already busy life. People are unable to make that additional commitment of time and the means of following up their 3-Day experience is lost.
But, what if there was a way to carry participant's experience forward with them? What if there was a means by which each person could be reminded of the lessons they learned and the talks that were given? What if there was a way of having something more in common with those who had gone through this life-altering encounter with God? What if all this could ride with you down the road or fill the room where you're working at home?
Our product, "The Colors of Grace" is created for the purpose of helping participants of 3-Day Spiritual Events carry their experience forward into the rest of their lives. The convenience of having a spiritually solid representation of their encounter with God and a quality musical experience is a win-win for the purchaser. They may not be able to bottle their experience but it sure will be nice to crank it up and carry it down the road.
This is where you can be a great help to me. I am asking each Emmaus community to share with their members that “The Colors of Grace” will soon be available (expected release, spring 2005). I would like the Cursillos Community to know about this as well. I can provide a promotional piece for your website or newsletter so that you might link us with those who would benefit from this music, which Dr. Evelyn Laycock called "sound theology and healing music".
Just so you know a little something about me and those helping me, let me say, I am an Elder in the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church. I walked on Elizabethtown, KY “Walk to Emmaus” #1 in 1984. I have served the Emmaus movement in many ways, as a table leader to Community Spiritual Director. I have written and performed music for almost two decades. The producer for “The Colors of Grace” project is Phil Naish, 3-time Grammy winner.
I trust you’ll pray with me for God to continue to move the project forward. I look forward to your reply and thank you for helping me to make the grace and joy of Jesus an unavoidable experience! I am...
Your servant in Christ, Norman Ramsey |

I just want to congratulate you on your excellent website. I spent a lot of time on it this morning and found it most informative and up to date. I was able to link to so many other sites which brought back many memories for me.
I was on the CCCC for several years in the early '90's and was the Chairperson for CCCC for one year. As such I travelled all over Canada and Taiwan and Spain. I really enjoyed my time this morning on your site.
Again, CONGRATULATIONS and DeColores!

Hi! Mike Brown suggested I call you and search for Steve Kohagen, or Nick Mitchell. We are searching for Chrysalis, the youth version of A Walk To Emmaus for our granddaughter, age 15, Jennifer Flore Plummer.
We'd prefer a walk for her in Santa Clarita, it's closer than Ventura. And probably in the spring.
Please contact us. Thank you and God Bless. |

Hello,
I wanted to tell you about the hypocrisy of the Cursillo movement. I am certain you will not publish my entry. I went on Cursillo with the United Church in Montreal. I am Catholic but a young woman I know, a delight of a person, invited me. Subsequent to the Cursillo, after all of that intense Christianity, I was made to not feel welcome amongst the, primarily, United group. I had disclosed very intimate details of my life to the Minister who was in attendance, [name of the person], grievious troubles that were beyond my control and comprehension. She subsequently accused me of haven lied to her about the details. I am in shock! For a person of God, an ordained Minister to show such callousness, such ignorant bias. To simply accept rhetoric given to her by someone with a vested interest in telling lies, after I had disclosed my troubles to her in the presence of God....to call me a liar! To say that this experience, far from bringing me closer to the Lord, sent me into a spiritual crisis would be an understatement. I have reconciled with the Lord and He has assured me that it was not His will she was asserting in calling me a liar. However,I am so disillusioned with the notion of Christian community. I, in all ernest and good faith disclosed my most personal business on Cursillo and feel that I was kicked in the teeth and ostracized for it. I told that woman not one lie, may God strike me dead where I sit if I did!
The bible warns that there will be false prophets who rather than feed the flock, alienate them. That was my Cursillo experience.
Sincerely, |

- | Dearest friends in Christ, I would like to share with you an experience I had with Christ at the beginning of three day Walk to Emmaus...... All of my life, I have been a 'fence sitting' Christian and since I was a child, I always used to challenge God to give me some sort of proof that He existed! I used to ask Him for a flash of lightning and thunder, or make this or that object move! In my latter years, I still have not been too sure and often wondered when He would take me in. A month ago I was 'lead' to Emmaus. Friends and family had been and all returned absolutely glowing after the experience! A good friend encouraged me and sponsored my Walk. On the day, my wife Julie and I drove down from Queenstown to Stutterheim (Eastern Cape/ South Africa.) I was feeling a little anxious and somewhat negative about this Emmaus 'thing'! Afterall, I would be missing out on the F1 Grand Prix as well as the weekend rugby matches being televised! Nevertheless, we continued...... It was pouring with rain and began to clear about five kilometres from a small village known as Cathcart. Lo and behold! One of the most perfect rainbows we had ever seen appeared! In fact it was a double rainbow! Laughinly, I mentioned to Ju that it must be a message from God! Ha ha ha! I then stated that it would really be something if the same rainbow followed us to our destination, some fifty kilometres away! Well, thank goodness Julie was with me or else no one would believe me, but that rainbow STAYED with us to within five kilometres of Stutterheim! This was surely a clear cut message from God! Some may say it was just a 'natural phenominon' but, how many people have experienced a rainbow follow them for fifty kilometres at a speed of 120 kilometres per hour! At times, the right hand side of the rainbow was in the road directly ahead! Wow! I was blown away! Upon our arrival at Stutt, I was further astonished to discover that the rainbow is part of the Emmaus logo! De Colores! The weekend was INCREDIBLE and during those three days, I climbed down from my 'fence' and accepted the Lord! How it has changed my life, knowing that Christ is for real! I left for home three days later a commited Christian and continue so.... God Bless, De Colores! |

- | Dear Friends, Ultreya from Finnish Lutheran Cursillo! Cursillo found its way here from the British Anglican Cursillo and since 1999 we have organized at least one weekend every year in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland. We are not yet many in numbers but every weekend has been a real blessing to the participants. It really is a priviledge to belong to this large family. I was smittened by the flushes on Cursillo Movement and was enjoying all the phases of it.( Please pardon if the terminologies are incorrect). I'm a Cursillista from the Philippines, province of Bukidnon, town of Libona, parish of Nazareno. I am interested to bring the knowledge about Cursillo to my brother and sister Cursillistas in our parish. Would you have suggestion on how to do it, other than printing all the pages in the computers? Thank you very much. |
